provincia malinconica

Light does not merely reveal; it sculpts. In these narrow streets and shadowed passages, I follow Vittorio Storaro's approach, treating light as a language and a character in its own right. Every shot is crafted through contrast: warmth versus coolness, illumination versus darkness, the transient human figure against timeless architecture. I photograph Mediterranean towns not as a tourist but as a student of chiaroscuro, seeking moments when sunlight shapes geometry in stone and shadows carry as much meaning as what they hide. The golden hour becomes a stage, and alleyways turn into theatres of emotion. This is light as storytelling. Each frame is a conscious decision: where to position warmth, where to permit darkness, how to harmonise the tension between them. Inspired by the great cinematographers, I translate their painterly vision into still images - one frame, one story, one breath of light at a time.
