Where Blackbirds Fly was made in a Polish forest, in the hour when light enters obliquely, and the ground holds it briefly before the canopy closes again. The trunks stand in their hundreds, indifferent and precise, while a single path of light crosses the forest floor — not dramatic, not symbolic, simply present. The image is representational where In Between is abstract, but both belong to the same project: a sustained attention to woodland as a place that resists being fully known.
This work is part of El Bosque, a long-term photographic series exploring Polish forests across seasons and states of light.
This photograph was awarded Honorable Mention at the Monovision Photography Awards, Fine Art Category, 2026
