Dublin: Secular Prayers was made along the Liffey, where a church spire holds its ground between a bank's glass tower and the stacked geometry of newer commercial architecture rising behind it. A long exposure smooths the river into a mirror, doubling the skyline below itself. The title names the tension at the centre of the frame: the spire, once the tallest and most meaningful structure in any skyline, now just one form among many competing for the same grey sky — devotion and commerce standing shoulder to shoulder, neither one dominant, both equally uncertain of what comes next.
This work is part of Dublin Distilled: Moments Between Moments, a series exploring Dublin's architecture and waterways through long exposure and monochromatic palettes
